Positive Discipline, developed by Dr. Jane Nelsen in the late 1970s, is an educational approach rooted in Adlerian psychology that combines kindness and firmness to help children develop essential life and social skills. It promotes responsibility, empathy, and mutual respect, fostering cooperation and self-discipline without relying on punishment or permissiveness.

Gamma International College (GIC) is proudly moving toward official accreditation by the Positive Discipline Association (PDA). This journey is guided by Groupe Scolaire Oasis, a pioneer in implementing Positive Discipline since 2016 and officially recognized as a Positive Discipline Lab School in 2018.

Over the past month, certified Positive Discipline educators from Groupe Scolaire Oasis have conducted a series of intensive workshops and collaborative training sessions with the GIC team. Together, they explored practical classroom tools, positive communication techniques, and strategies to build strong teacher-student relationships while fostering a culture of respect and accountability throughout the school community.

In addition, as GIC is currently a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School, Groupe Scolaire Oasis is also providing guidance in this process. Both the IB philosophy and Positive Discipline share common values such as developing caring, principled, and open-minded learners and emphasize social emotional growth, student agency, and respect for diversity.

Through this inspiring collaboration, Gamma International College is laying the foundation for a learning environment where every student, teacher, and parent can learn, grow, and thrive with confidence, empathy, and purpose.
